Thomas Savinski: Michigan City’s Lecherous Residential Landlord
We recently filed a lawsuit against Thomas Savinski for sexual harassment and sexual assault. Thomas Savinski, a residential landlord located in Michigan City, is the former owner of the Harmony Bar located at 1901 Franklin St. Michigan City, IN 46360.
As our clients allege in their Complaint, Mr. Savinski has engaged in a prolonged and continuous practice of sexually inappropriate behavior towards female tenants. Specifically, as our Complaint alleges, on numerous occasions, Mr. Savinski sent sexually suggestive text messages to our clients. On at least one occasion, Mr. Savinski also engaged in unwanted sexual physical contact. This is otherwise known as sexual assault.
Eviction as Retaliation
As alleged in our Complaint, once Mr. Savinski’s sexual advances are rebuffed enough times, he initiates eviction actions against female tenants in retaliation. Such behavior violates both Indiana’s Fair Housing Act, and the Federal Fair Housing Act.
Finding affordable housing is hard enough in today’s economic environment. Our home is supposed to be our sanctuary. It is where we should feel free to let our guard down. It is where we know we will be safe. These were all benefits denied to our clients, due to one man’s selfish deranged desires. It is behavior this firm is dedicated to do whatever necessary to put a stop to.
